For this month’s edition of the Spotlight Series, we’ve spoken to our Marketing & Insight Assistant, Anna, to hear all about her first few months with us and what it was that made her choose Open!

What does your role consist of?


My title at Open Media is Marketing and Insight Assistant, which covers quite a broad scope of things. From the marketing angle, I assist our 4-strong marketing team with all things to do with increasing brand awareness and promoting Open as much as possible.


This can vary from posting on our social channels, to drafting web pieces, writing press releases, awards nominations, and pretty much anything to do with gaining positive traction for us. The insight side is a lot more research and analytics-based, mainly supporting the sales team in trying to generate as many sales as possible. This includes collecting industry insight, generating proactive and reactive leads, providing research pieces to assist with various department strategies, and collecting audience and impact data for our screens.


What led you to Open Media?


After graduating with my Psychology degree in 2022, I found myself wondering what my next steps could be, and where the degree could take me. My University experience was definitely a strange one, with COVID-19 massively impacting my contact hours, and doing most of my lectures from home (bed), this led to my University experience to be not the most enjoyable!


After graduation, I decided I wanted to branch out from Psychology and chose something different, which is when I landed my intern position at Open in the July of 2022. Whilst completing my internship last summer, I also completed Agent Academy, a 12-week intensive course, two days a week to develop new skills, gain experience, and make strong industry connections. This course really helped to build my confidence, whilst also giving me a real insight into the creative and digital industry – which I was keen to get into. Not long after the completion of Agent Academy in the January of 2023, I landed my full-time job here at Open as Marketing and Insight Assistant!


What is your favourite part of your job?


Open is an amazing place to work and there’s so many reasons I enjoy my job, but if I had to pick one it would be the team culture. The fact that I actually enjoy coming to work every day is a true privilege (and not something I have ever experienced before), and this is not just because I enjoy my role, but I also enjoy working with such amazing and like-minded people, it really does make Open such a nice environment to come into every day.


What is the thing you are most looking forward to at Open Media this year?


Open is constantly growing and evolving, and since starting not even a year ago, the growth and change I have seen in the company in such a short period of time is so exciting to see. I can’t wait to see where Open will be at the end of this year in terms of sites, locations, and people – lots of exciting things to come!


What is your guilty pleasure?


My guilty pleasure is definitely very guilty, but everyone I have got onto this one has ended up liking it – pasta and beans.
