One of our three key pillars is making a commitment to the planet. Open Media leads the way in sustainability for out-of-home, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on our planet for generations to come. We’re incredibly proud to be the first B Corp certified outdoor media owner in the UK & Europe, setting the standard for everyone to follow and contributing to a global community of businesses through our partnerships with Ad Net Zero and Front Foot to uphold high social and environmental standards.
We’re committed to carbon neutrality through decarbonising, offsetting, and continuous impact measurement. To date, Open Media has avoided over 404 tonnes of carbon, planted over 9000 trees and supported 24 projects across the globe ranging from wind power to rainforest protection. All part of our partnership with Ecologi, which allows us to actively support projects like reforestation and carbon reduction opportunities. As a business we have set an overall net zero target of 2040, with plans for year on year reduction.
Our commitment to the planet has led us an industry first in the out of home space. Partnering with North-West Low Carbon Eco-Innovatory we’re conducting a life cycle assessment of the digital screens in our portfolio. The aim? To explore more environmentally friendly alternatives and discover ways to extend the life cycle of these screens, reducing waste. We’re already ‘powering down’ our entire national portfolio, and as a result our sites have been switched off between the hours of 12am-6am, in an effort help combat rising emissions.
‘‘Open Media is incredibly proud to announce our B Corp certification to our community, clients and partners. We’ve worked really hard throughout this process and our commitment to our values has shone through- it’s been an incredible journey and education piece for myself and the team.
This is just the start for us, and we look forward to continuously improving on our score and helping other new and potential B Corps on their journeys.’’
